Clogged Gutters, Leaky Joints, and a Proper Fix That Lasts

This one had a little bit of everything. Clogged downspout outlets packed with debris, corner joints that had been leaking for a while, and old sealant that had cracked and was basically doing nothing anymore. It's the kind of system that looks fine from the ground but tells a different story up close.

We started with a full gutter cleaning - clearing out the built-up debris that was blocking the downspout outlets and sitting in the channels. When water can't move through the system, it backs up, sits, and eventually finds somewhere else to go. Usually somewhere you don't want it.

Then we got into the repair work. The corner joints had failing sealant - dried out, cracked, and pulling away from the metal. That's where leaks start. We cleaned everything out and resealed the problem areas properly so water routes where it's supposed to. No shortcuts, no slapping caulk over old caulk.

Once the system was clean and the repairs were done, we installed gutter guards across the run. They sit tight to the roofline and keep debris from piling back up in the channels - so the next time it rains, water moves through cleanly instead of sitting on top of a layer of junk.

A lot of gutter problems don't show up as obvious damage. They show up as water stains on siding, soggy landscaping, or a foundation that's taking on more moisture than it should. Catching the small stuff - a clogged outlet here, a leaky joint there - is a lot cheaper than dealing with what comes after you ignore it.
